Chapter 7
Caeli and Michael sat in silence in front of Colin. They were in a large conference hall and the only noise was Colin yelling his head off on how Caeli and Michael couldnt do a simple task as destroy one person. Colin sat back in his seat across from them looking at them with a hard stare. Tell me why I should let you live right now, he muttered as he pulled out his gun and slid it across the table to them. Caeli looked at the gun while Michael kept trying to come up with an excuse. After a few failed statements Colin got up and slammed his fist on the table and started yelling again. One guy, one guy! He said pausing in between the repeated words. He was a damn freak. Michael countered, The bullets bounced off of him. Colin sighed as he settled down in his chair. So youre telling me bullets bounced off a sixteen year old teenager, he said raising an eyebrow. Michael opened his mouth but shut it immediately and shook his head and slumped back in his chair. Caeli hadnt really said anything since they had returned from their failed mission. She thought about Simon now. She wondered how he could have changed so much from when she once knew him. She looked at the table and saw his smiling face swimming in the water glass in front of her. She sighed and tried to push him out of his mind but couldnt. As Michael and Colin argued she kept looking into the glass and wondering where the guy who understood her so well had gone. She finally pushed him out of her mind as she got up from the briefing table. The boys were still arguing when she exited the room and walked into the heart of the building. It was a skyscraper and the briefing room was on the top floor and had a balcony that overlooked the skyline. She went there to do some thinking. She didnt really remember too much from when Simon and she had been friends but it was a pretty good time as she could remember. She shook her head to clear it and looked out over the balcony. The past didnt matter anymore, there was only one thing to do and that was to kill him now. She nodded quickly to her own claim but somehow it just didnt seem like it would happen. She turned when she felt a hand on her shoulder. It was Michael who had a swollen right eye. The argument between him and Colin ended in Colin punching him in the face and Michael crawling out of the office. She sighed and grabbed Michaels hand and pulled him to the first aid room. She gave his hand a reassuring squeeze. Somehow she didnt feel any different.
